‘Cœur d’or’ is the first bespoke bridal collection from the luxury Scottish label Kirsty Elizabeth. Bridal design was a natural progression for my brand as the foundations are rooted in glamour and luxury style. I wanted to create timeless pieces that empower stylish women to feel glamorous yet comfortable on their special day. French culture and architecture were the main inspirations for this collection, focusing on their effortless approach to dressing alongside the intricacy of their architectural character.
‘Cœur d’or translates to ‘heart of gold’ in the French language and perfectly reflects these intricate and special bridal pieces. It is the journey of a woman who embodies beauty, care and love. The way the ‘o’and ‘e’ sit together in the French language represents the symbolism of the exchanging of rings in marriage. Anyone that is familiar with my previous work will know that I have a strong obsession with gold. Using gold in this collection was instinctive and I knew from the first sketch that it would be the feature of every piece. The metallic highlights of the gold completely elevates the design.
Each piece is designed so that it can be inter-changeable with other pieces –creating a very versatile collection. There are 5 top options and 3 bottom options but taking advantage of the bespoke design service means that the options can be adapted to suit each bride’s style. Nothing is set in stone! Alongside the versatility of our pieces, Brides are encouraged to look beyond their special day and see the potential of adapting their outfit to wear again. Nothing deserves to sit in a bag at the back of a wardrobe for years to come.
The gold Chantilly lace that has been intricately applied throughout the collection was a very personal and meaningful choice. Many years ago when I was a young design student I discovered a French mill and their luxury lace fabrics on a trip to Paris. The mill has been producing beautiful lace on traditional leavers looms for generations and instantly I fell in love with their story and craft, telling myself that one day I would use it in my work. When I designed this collection I could not imagine using anyone else: the specific lace I have chosen is perfect. My heart was set and I did everything I could, despite a challenging global pandemic, to get hold of that lace! It is the feature I am most proud of in this collection. The lace is very expertly cut and applied on each garment making each design truly unique. Many hours of labour, care and love goes into hand-stitching each appliqué, making the garment more unique by the stitch.
Every piece is uniquely bespoke and designed so that it can be interchangeable with other pieces, creating a very versatile collection.
